Two fans can list the same airflow number on a spec sheet and perform completely differently once installed behind a filter or inside a sealed enclosure. The difference usually comes down to one variable most buyers skip past: static pressure. A DC brushless centrifugal fan is built specifically to hold airflow steady against that kind of resistance.
| Voltage | Typical Use Case |
| 12V DC | Small electronics and compact enclosures |
| 24V DC | Industrial equipment and automation systems |
| 48V DC | Higher-power cooling and EV-adjacent systems |
PWM speed control lets a DC brushless centrifugal fan run only as fast as current cooling demand requires, instead of holding a fixed maximum speed regardless of load. That matters most in battery thermal management and server cooling, where power budgets are tight and every unnecessary RPM adds heat and drains capacity that the rest of the system needs.
A fan rated for high airflow in open air can lose most of that performance once it faces a filter or duct, while a fan rated for high static pressure holds airflow steady under that same resistance.
The voltage should match your existing power system directly, since converting voltage adds cost and complexity that a correctly specified fan avoids entirely.
Not automatically, but brushless motor control and balanced impeller design generally give centrifugal fans an advantage in vibration and noise reduction.
Outdoor or unconditioned enclosures need a wider operating temperature range than indoor equipment, so this spec should be checked against your actual installation environment, not just typical room conditions.
